About

A passionate innovator, inventor and serial entrepreneur able to translate emerging technologies into real-world innovation. In my business career, been successful in mobilising and recruiting people, attracting capital and early adopters. Founded LipoCoat BV to translate co-invented cutting-edge lab technology into coating products for medical devices to improve their performance, comfort and safety to positively impact society and the well-being of patients. Have the privilege to collaborate with various leading industrial partners and be involved in high-impact collaborations. Throughout the years been intrigued with tech transfer and the interplay between industry and research leading to the inception of ScoutinScience BV. In my academic career, performed interdisciplinary research ranging from molecular biology, tissue engineering to supramolecular chemistry and dynamic cell architectures.

  • University of Twente (On-site)
    • Postdoc Researcher | University lecturer
      Oct 2014 - Sep 2015 · 1 yr

Postdoc research on novel application of small antibodies, supramolecular chemistry and dynamic cell surfaces. As university lecturer, gave bachelor and master courses in Applied Cell Biology for Technical Medicine and Biomedical Engineering studies. Focus areas included cell-cell, cell-ECM and cell-biomaterial interactions.

    • PHD Student
      Oct 2010 - Sep 2014 · 4 yrs

PhD thesis under supervision of Prof. Jonkheijm “Molecular Nanofabrication” and Prof. Karperien “Developmental Bioengineering” at the University of Twente funded by NanoNext NL, cluster 6C11. The aim of this project was to develop ‘Novel interfaces to living cells’ based on artificial cell membranes thereby mimicking native receptor fingerprinting. Work was performed on biomaterial surface modification, synthesis of peptide amphiphiles, formation of Supported Lipid bilayers, membrane electrophoresis and in situ gradient formation and (stem) cell analysis. During the project, collaborations with various partners e.g. Percuros BV and PolyVation BV. The PhD-research resulted in enabling technologies for novel biomedical applications of supported lipid layers.
