A marketing and communications professional for over 12 years I have worked across a range of Whitehall departments and public bodies. My experience has seen me work across press office and media handling strategies, digital communications, campaign communications, internal communications and stakeholder engagement I have worked with Ministers and senior civil servants and delivered government communication campaigns for the Deputy Prime Minister and the Home Secretary. I have led on high profile campaigns for the 2012 Olympics and the government's overseas 3.7 million visa customers overseas. I am an experienced manager, leading teams of up to 16 based in remote locations around the world. I have two CIM Professional Diplomas in Communications as well as a CMI Certicate in Professional Consultancy.
Working closely with the CEO to create an innovative and engaging internal communications environment within the FSA. This includes working with approximately 1,200 diverse and regionally spread employees working in offices, abattoirs, dairy farms, wine distilleries and science labs, to create engagement with the 2015-20 business strategy. Key responsibilities include: - developing and delivering an engaging internal communications strategy using a mixture of innovative and digital channels, such as Yammer, intranet, staff events, interconnection through video-tele conferencing; - creating greater engagement and understanding of the FSA 2015-20 strategy across operational and non-operational staff - leading staff engagement of a new innovative transformation strategy for the organisation - developing the management community within the FSA to become inspiring and confident leaders
ONE KEY ACHIEVEMENT: I researched, planned and implemented a multi-channel digital communications strategy to the Inspectorate, where previously there had only been a basic website. By launching the Inspectorate on social media channels to engage with stakeholders and using rich media content to promote the work of the Inspectorate, I have dragged the Inspectorate firmly into the digital communications age and significantly enhanced its communication capabilities whilst delivering value for money. Development and delivery of strategic comms across internal, external, media, digital and stakeholder engagement – to support the Inspectorate’s corporate objectives. Devising and executing communications campaigns to promote the inspectorate’s work among stakeholders and the public Researching, developing from scratch and implementing a digital communications strategy for the Inspectorate, in particular the use of social media to support promotion of messaging Manage all proactive and reactive media activity relating to the Inspectorate’s business to ensure the resulting coverage is balanced and factual, and protects and enhances the reputation of the Chief Inspector Producing and implementing a stakeholder strategy to build strong, open and productive relationships with stakeholders and the media in order to support delivery of business objectives Providing leadership on communications to the Inspectorate, in particular the Executive Team, and develop them to improve business performance and build staff capability Maintaining a full understanding of the political context within which the Inspectorate operates and address reputational risks Manage delivery of comprehensive, accurate and evidence based briefings for the Chief Inspector Produce clear, persuasive and accessible communications products and provide overall editorial guidance and brand control Manage budget and resources of communications department to deliver value for money
ONE KEY ACHIEVEMENT: I led the UKBA’s International campaign for overseas Games Family Members (GFMs), visitors and staff for the London Olympics. This massive campaign spanned 5 continents and utilized digital, print, advertising, media and stakeholder channels in over 200 countries. By leading and facilitating the overseas communications network and working closely with the UK Olympics communications team, I delivered a graduated and multi-layered communications campaign which secured biometrics from over 10,000 GFMs before they travelled to the UK in order to prevent delays at the UK border, ensured visitors applied in advance to avoid visas being issued late and kept staff informed and engaged in delivering a high quality visa service to GFMs and visitors. Leading a team of 16 to develop, plan and deliver effective external, internal and stakeholder communications for the UK’s overseas visa customers.
