Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Six years ago, I started writing down the things I wished someone had told me as a junior lawyer. I was the first lawyer in my family, so the aspirational advice never really worked for me. "Find a mentor." "Be proactive." Hard to do when you don't have concrete steps, a network, or anyone who's been through it before you. So I started documenting what actually worked for me. Guides, templates, examples, scripts, frameworks. Things I picked up from practice, from supervisors, and from peers who were figuring it out at the same time. I'm Jason, a construction and projects lawyer at Herbert Smith Freehills in Dubai. Still learning. Still writing things down. Here's what I write about: → The practical skills law school skips: drafting, reviewing contracts, taking instructions, managing your workload → How to handle the situations nobody prepares you for: asking for work, managing up, following up without being annoying → Career development that goes beyond "work hard and be patient" → The wellbeing and mindset side of law that most firms don't talk about Follow and hit 🔔 to stay updated on my new guides.
