Lead Data Officer: Responsible for implementing data strategy and data risk management within the distribution organisation (Workplace Investing, Personal and Advised businesses): • Manage data risk across the business & to ensure adherence to regulations, policies and standards • Facilitate the successful implementation of FIL’s data strategy in the UK • Set up data management capabilities offshore including Germany, Hong Kong and Japan • Chair of monthly Data & Records Management Oversight Committee • Drive the data maturity of the organisation forward as per the EDMC template (moved from a score of 1.6 (conceptual) to 4 (defined) so far) • Ensure the initiatives within the FIL data strategy implement the right things for the customer • Facilitate the commercialisation of our data and to reduce our data costs • Help FIL achieve long term goals through the power of great data Global lead for blockchain and crypto: • Member of World Economic Forum Digital Asset Governance working group • Ideation and successful execution of share class tokenisation project - FIL were the first Asset Manager in the world to carry out this activity. This project involved working with an external vendor, the UK Regulator, multiple internal teams and the custodian. The project produced a new TOM that allowed us to run the fund operations from day to day over a period of eight weeks • SME for inaugural Metaverse project inc. the creation and airdrop of NFTs • Produce and deliver Bitcoin, blockchain and tokenisation content and education • Ideation, product and project management of multiple internal POCs and Pilots (including working with FMR on a successful sub advised trades pilot) Previously Programme Director leading a multi year Workplace Investing change programme and Product / Technical owner of various data hubs including customer data, performance data and attribution
Unit pricing implementation (April 07 – March 08) Overall project manager for the successful implementation of pControl within Investment Operations Services. This is a unit pricing validation and distribution application supplied by the vendor Milestone. This project was in a distressed state when I took over with delivery already 6 months late, poor team morale, a very poor vendor relationship and business requirements not fully defined. Project was turned around and went live in December 07. It was the first implementation of pControl validations in Europe and has realised material benefits to the unit pricing business team. Was responsible for all aspects of the project including the vendor relationship and the $2 million plus budget Outsourcing deals (March 06 - April 07) Initially worked as part of the Product team to define a Technology and Operating model including headcount and budget for the proposed take on of a new client (duration was 5 months). This included the definition of a potential Target operating Model for ETD and OTC derivative processing. After this was completed, I set up and ran the Project Management Office for a major programme of transformation work to provide JPM with a strategic operating platform for existing and new clients. This included derivatives processing, messaging, unit pricing, property and capital gains tax.
