Highly motivated leader and skilled scientist with extensive operational, business, and technical leadership experience in large molecule research, development, and production (DNA/RNA, recombinant protein, and viral vector).
● Optimize plasmid DNA manufacturing process and characterization methods. ● Coordinate process development and manufacturing operation across international sites. ● Review and streamline end-to-end business operations of new and existing vaccine programs.
● Oversee and manage daily business and facility operations of a profitable biologics R&D site focusing on viral vectors, mRNA, therapeutic proteins, and research tools. ● Manage P&L, staffing, business development, capital projects and client project output. ● Lead project management group focusing on client communication/relations ● Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among multidisciplinary teams across global sites. Allocate resources effectively to meet project goals and objectives. ● Develop and implement growth strategies, including expansion of mRNA and viral vector services. Optimize production processes to ensure scalability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. ● Develop and design mRNA production workflow for pre-clinical and GMP operations. ● Build internal and external relationships/partnerships. Identify opportunities to collaborate and maximize capacity utilization. Ensure efficient tech transfer to partner groups. ● Serve as senior leader for all business development activities at the site (client prospecting & outreach, inquiries, quotes, site visits/meetings, and marketing).
● Lead a growing business unit specializing in molecular biology, protein engineering and viral vector services. Identify opportunities for growth and improvement within the laboratory. ● Manage the design and execution of client projects (>2000 projects per year) across multiple business units (molecular biology, cell culture, protein science, and assay development). ● Develop and optimize processes for plasmid, recombinant protein, mRNA (IVT), and viral vector production for R&D and pre-clinical studies. ● Develop GMP process for plasmid DNA production. ● Technical leader for all business development activities (inquiries, quotes, site visits/meetings, and marketing). Maintain relationships with key accounts to drive additional opportunities.
● Recruit, mentor, and train a diverse team of scientists and project managers. ● Plan and execute experiments in molecular biology and microbial fermentation (>2000 per year). ● Contribute to the development of the laboratory's long-term strategic plan and service offerings. ● Support business development with quote writing and assessing new project feasibility. ● Serve as SME and lead project manager for all molecular biology projects and client interactions.
