Served on the executive board overseeing daily operations while organizing and leading monthly meetings for all station staff and volunteers. I spearheaded the planning and production of a series of public outreach events on and off campus - with the goal of recruiting student volunteers and fundraising in the community. I regularly recruited, welcomed, and tracked the involvement of new and continuing station volunteers while gathering and analyzing volunteer statistics & feedback. The role included providing assistance to volunteers planning on enrolling in the CRWN 70: Intro to Radio course - as well as assisting current students of the class in fulfilling volunteer duties. Before graduating, I developed a training manual and mentorship program for the subsequent incumbents.
Hosted a 3-hour Jazz program on Wednesdays from 9am-12pm called "Stirrin' the Soup," focusing on curation, education, and exploration of classic and contemporary works in the Jazz idiom. The show also aided in the promotion of regional events in Santa Cruz and the Monterey Bay, featuring new releases and interviewing touring artists performing at local venues.
Stewarded a massive analog music library, while constantly tracking new releases and reporting charts to CMJ. As Jazz and Blues director, I regularly liaised with labels and distribution groups to report spins and listener feedback. On the station website, I wrote live concert and album reviews to engage with our audience through blog posts social media, while training new volunteers in on-air programming skills and community involvement on and off-campus.
