I’ve always been fascinated with technology and knew I wanted to work with computers for as long as I can remember. I was born and grew up in South Africa and got my first computer at 10 and taught myself to program. I studied BSc Computer Science but did not complete my final year as I got the opportunity to become part of a small and growing company that I admired. I was lucky and that decision paid off, as I’m still with that company 27 years later and our Group of companies now operate in 30 countries with over 4,000 people. After a few years doing hands on technology work, mostly UNIX, networking and security, I became fascinated with information risk management and business in general. I went back to university part time while I worked to complete a business degree in quantitative management - using math to help make business decisions. I’ve lived in South Africa, Europe and currently live in Atlanta, USA. I now lead a business responsible for implementing complex global payrolls for some of the biggest multinationals companies in the world. In my free time I dabble in various creative outlets, including programming, drawing, making music and writing.
Heading up a business within EPI-USE to implement complex global payrolls for large multinational clients. Implementing payrolls requires a tremendous amount of trust, which we work hard to earn every day. I work directly with clients, partners and our own people to ensure we deliver and run payroll and related data and integration projects timely and accurately. As part of this role I serve on the executive / steering committees for HR / payroll transformation management for multiple companies.
Founded the "International Payroll Executives" (IPX) community of experts. IPX is an invite-only group of senior global payroll executives from large multinational companies. The purpose of IPX is to give executives with international payroll responsibility a small, trusted community of peers to share with, and learn from. We share best practices, case studies, do joint innovation and analyze current and future trends in the global payroll space.
Initiated a partnership with Evolutio that went so well we ended up doing an equity transaction with them, and I'm still marginally involved in the business in an advisory capacity.
I've developed and published iPhone apps for fun as side projects and to learn to use artificial intelligence productively to do something I would not have been able to do on my own.
