Greater Chicago Area
Hello there! I'm an elementary education student with a minor in American Studies who wishes to focus on alternative approaches to learning. I will also be obtaining an additional certification in middle school social sciences. My overarching professional goals include working in Chicago Public Schools, obtaining a masters degree in some form of education, and working in a public history institution. Previous experience of mine has taken place in traditional classroom environments, Montessori schools, and summer camps. Many of these programs have had a specific focus on gifted students. I'm currently hoping to gain more experience with public education institutions (museums, zoos, etc.) and opportunities to work with students over an extended period of time to better observe learning trends. My educational philosophy is deeply rooted in empathy and the importance of engaging with students on a personal level. Creating connections with students not only allows educators to form more meaningful bonds, but can make the learning process more engaging and enjoyable. My biggest focus when teaching is to utilize curricula where students can see themselves represented in material across all subjects regardless of their identities.
