Frankfurt Rhine-Main Metropolitan Area
I'm a Frankfurt-based journalist who has covered this financial center since 2000. My areas of expertise include asset management, banking as well as pensions and corporate news. I'm a specialist for Germany, especially where business and finance are concerned. I write both in English and in German. As a freelance journalist, I currently cover the German banking industry for the BANKMAGAZIN, a Springer Professional publication. I also write about Germany's huge insurance industry for another Springer title called Versicherungsmagazin. Another longtime client of mine is procontra, a Berlin-based magazine that is targeted to distributors of insurance and funds in Germany for private investors. procontra is a very successful IFA magazine. As Senior Correspondent at Responsible Investor, I wrote about sustainable investing, shareholder engagement and capital markets in the DACH region. Before then, I was Chief Online Editor at portfolio Verlag, responsible for crafting and implementing the firm’s internet strategy. Prior to portfolio, I worked as a Frankfurt correspondent for the FT publication The Banker (2001-2007) and for Investment & Pensions Europe (2004-2007). In 2005, I was one of the first winners of State Street’s Financial Journalist award in Germany. Originally from Chicago, I arrived in Germany on a Fulbright scholarship for young journalists. A year later, I landed my first job as political correspondent for AFX News, then a unit of Agence France Presse (AFP), in Bonn. I later moved with the German government to Berlin before arriving in Frankfurt in 2000. I have a Masters of Science in journalism from Northwestern University, Chicago. Special skills: investigative reporting, tenacity paired with social skill, news judgment and worship of Strunk & White's style guide when I write in English and Wolf Schneider's "Deutsch für Profis" when I do so in German.
I write about Germany's banking & asset management industries for the BANKMAGAZIN. Past highlights include in-depth analyses of Commerzbank, Deutsche Bank and plans by private equity investors to acquire beleaguered German banks.
As Frankfurt Correspondent for procontra (www.procontra-online.de), I cover the German asset management industry, including investment funds and closed funds. German banking and insurance are also industries I write about.
As a FvS Investment Writer, I composed, edited and translated articles about its funds and strategy in English and German. As a member of the marketing team, I supported the expansion of this very successful Cologne-based wealth manager.
