Lead Energy System Outlook at TenneT Nederland

Arnhem, Gelderland, Netherlands

About

I am an experienced leader with a track record in the energy sector. After having served for several years as a public affairs advisor for TenneT, I joined CertiQ (the Dutch issuing body for electricity certificates) in 2011 as General Manager. As of December 2016 I have led the program for business process improvement at TenneT. Since 2020 I am leading the Climate Agreement Program at TenneT. In 2023 I merged this program with the team of Energy System Outlook and expanded this with offshore development expertise. The focus of the integrated team is to develop new concepts and solutions (grid and non-grid) and launch them to ensure the energy system becomes stronger, smarter and more flexible. The ambition is to prepare ourselves for the future energy system, shoulder to shoulder with our partners in the energy sector as well as in the field of society. Only then we are able to accelerate the energy transition.

TenneT is one of the signing partners of the Dutch Climate Agreement, committed to accommodate 84 TWh renewable electricity production in 2030. For this ambition, new asset-, system- and other flexibility solutions are vital. In addition to doing our part of the deal, we want to reinforce our handprint: TenneT also wishes to be an enabling partner for other parties in the Climate Agreement. The Climate Agreement@TenneT team will connect to relevant external partners in the field, to jointly move forward in the implementation of the agreement. We will watchfully monitor and report what we as TenneT accomplish to this end. Internally, we will closely collaborate with other TenneT teams to set out the strategy to identify and deliver the projects, solutions, innovations and other initiatives that are elementary to our commitment.

CertiQ stands for reliable information on the origin and environmental impact of energy for all public and market parties. Our prime focus is to empower energy consumers in their choice of action. We register the issuance and trade of Guarantees of Origin that are electronic certificates carrying information on the origin of (renewable) energy. We do this for producers, traders and suppliers in the Netherlands as an independent market administrator. The Senior Manager of CertiQ, a 100% daughter of TenneT TSO, carries out this task on behalf of the Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs.
