One of my earliest memories from elementary school is teachers complaining to my parents that I kept drawing and sketching in almost every class instead of paying attention. And it didn’t stop there. Through primary school and even high school, I was constantly scribbling, sketching and imagining spaces. At the time, most people thought it would lead nowhere. Well — jokes on them. I ended up getting a master’s degree in architecture and turned drawing into my profession. But along the way, something changed. While learning how to design buildings, I started asking a bigger question: What kind of world are we actually building? Instead of designing walls and facades, I focus on the bigger picture — helping projects integrate sustainability from the very beginning. My work connects architecture, engineering and sustainability. I support projects with certification strategies, life cycle assessments (LCA), material choices, life cycle costs (LCC), and sustainability concepts to ensure that buildings are not only well designed, but also responsible for the environment and the people using them. In a way, I still do the same thing I always did: I try to give ideas more space and meaning. Only now, instead of sketching buildings, I help shape the future they create.
