About

I’ve worked in digital across commercial and product roles for longer than I care to think about! Now I’m combining this experience into my own project... This focus started after I read research from an insurer on unauthorised subletting, and the numbers raised my eyebrows. Around 1 in 10 renters admitted to subletting β€” rising to 1 in 4 among younger tenants. That led me to spend time looking at the problem more closely. Not just the headline stats, but how and why it’s happening. I think there are a combination of factors now in play. The housing and cost of living crisis as well as a cultural shift brought about by this new era of the sharing economy. This perfect storm is affecting the housing market, something I have picked up in countless anecdotes since starting lintels.in A lot of this activity isn’t hidden in any sophisticated way. It’s visible. It just isn’t being picked up at scale or early enough to be as effective as it could be due to the manual resources that would be required to do this. Much of this problem leaves a public digital footprint. The challenge is turning that footprint into a proactive and scalable way of identifying unauthorised subletting and tenancy fraud. This is what we aim to deliver.
