I am a second‑year Master’s student in Biology at Radboud University. Here I focus on a combination of biodiversity, sustainability, circular economy and environmental impact assessment. I am currently doing my thesis internship at TNO, where I conduct a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of the water sensor network used by Rijkswaterstaat. In this project I explore the environmental impacts of distributed sensor systems, combining analytical modelling with sustainability expertise. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Wageningen University & Research, with a specialisation in Ecology. During my studies, I also obtained a second-degree teaching qualification, gaining hands-on experience teaching biology in secondary education. Alongside my academic work, I am active as a table tennis coach at TTV Belcrum, where I develop training programmes and support players in their long-term development. This has strengthened my communication, leadership and coaching skills. I will graduate in July 2026 and I am currently looking for my first professional opportunity in ecology, biodiversity, sustainability or LCA.
During my master thesis, I develop a parametric Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) model to evaluate the environmental impact of IoT systems. The model links design and operational parameters to environmental outcomes, enabling the identification of key hotspots and the assessment of mitigation strategies. I apply this approach to real-world case studies, including a large-scale water sensor network and smart traffic light systems managed by Rijkswaterstaat.
During my first master research project, I assessed the representativity of the Living Planet Index (LPI) by comparing it to the IUCN Red List dataset. I analysed how well the LPI reflects biodiversity trends across threat status, trophic groups, and functional traits. This involved integrating and processing multiple ecological databases and performing comparative analyses to identify potential biases in global biodiversity indicators.
I taught Biology to 1st and 2nd grade high-school students
During my bachelor thesis, I investigated the invasive success of benthic fish species in Dutch aquatic systems. I used morphological traits to identify the ecological niches of both native and non-native species. By comparing these niches, I assessed whether invasive species compete with native species or occupy previously unused niches. The analysis was conducted using the programming language R.
