James Salzman is a Jury Assistant in the Jury Division at the U.S. District Court of Colorado, a strong support professional with extensive experience in records management, customer service and office administration, as well as a fine arts education. Years of experience in the Federal Judiciary and over a decade living and working in Japan has deepened his skills in client and customer relations, administrative work and cross-department teamwork.
Teaching English as a second language and English conversation to preschool, elementary, junior high, high school, university and adult students of all abilities in an all-English environment.
Creator and manager of The Raven's Table Board Game Bar and Cafe, a small local bar in central Nagoya Japan. Worked with local Japanese business owner to design the cafe to serve both Japanese and non-Japanese local populations. Under owner's budget, designed and drew interior layouts of kitchen, bar, seating, decor, storage, drink and food stock. Assisted with construction of the property. Design and branding of The Raven’s Table brand used for signage, menu design, point cards and other print media, Twitch.com online presence, and interior design, utilizing Photoshop. Created seasonal food and drink menus based on limitations of space, budget and availability of ingredients. Created print menus. Kept accurate accounting, budgeting, sales, stock and payroll accounts for entire business. Tended bar, cooked, prepared food and maintained a clean service environment for customers. Delegated tasks to other staff. Interacted with customers from many backgrounds and countries, ensuring that the space was LGBT and minority friendly, as well as bilingual English/Japanese. Worked with local groups, charities, artists, bands and businesses to host events in the bar space. Maintained social media presence on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
