I enjoy building tools that make life easier. I have twenty years of experience in the Navy working on tasks ranging from general maintenance of a ship to leading an Aviation Maintenance Department’s efforts in preparation for a deployment to the Middle East. I want to use my management and leadership skills to work with a team building bigger and better applications that help people spend more time doing things they love. I will retire from the Navy on 31 March 2022.
Lead teams of Sailors that repair complex avionics equipment used in various military aircraft. Guide those Sailors in their career, developing their skills and leadership styles to be in line with the requirements of the US Navy. • 2019-2021 Turn failing 100 person maintenance program in to winning maintenance program. Use Vue.js, HTML, CSS to create stand alone application to reduce time required to identify documentation errors in the Current Ships Maintenance Project. Manage the Individual Component Repair Listing, using skills with Excel to identify problem areas and compare between other similar repair facilities. Use SQL to identify problem areas in Maintenance Action Form documentation to reduce errors by 75% in a one year period. • 2014-2018 Develop full stack application using Ruby on Rails, JavaScript and jQuery to track and perform trend analysis on data from audits performed by a dozen QA personnel. Develop innovative Ruby on Rails full stack web application using PostGreSQL, JS to track Sailor accomplishments and assist with creation of annual evaluations for 3,000 users. Lead 30 individuals in repair efforts of RADAR systems. • 2011-2014 Assist in standing up a department to manage the work load for the USS John C. Stennis during a dry dock maintenance period, encompassing thousands of personnel and jobs. Lead maintenance efforts of Electro-Optical Sensor Units for the Forward Looking Infrared repair shop using Consolidated Automated Support Systems. • 2008-2011 Manage work load priority of Communications/Navigation Avionics work center at AIMD Atsugi, Japan. Volunteered as an English teacher. Exposed to AIRSPEED/Lean 6 Sigma methods of innovation and continuous process improvement. • 2001-2008 Maintenance technician at Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department on board USS Kitty Hawk. Manage maintenance programs, test equipment, and train Sailors on maintenance best practices. Use aviation maintenance databases to manage workload.
A challenging 15 week web development boot camp for veterans. • Study Django, Python, SQL, JavaScript, React, programming best practices, and skills to prepare for transition from military to civilian life. • Create over 100 projects with 30 fellow students, including a large personal project and a 5 person group project. Overcame hundreds of challenges while enabling an amazing learning environment.
Developed a Sailor focused website using Ruby on Rails and JavaScript that members use to track their minor and major accomplishments. Then, we turn that data in to a meaningful document to allow the Sailor to show off their skills during their annual evaluation. This program was considered for implementation as an official Navy website.
