Creative problem-solving leader with deep experience in aviation, air traffic control/management, broad-based technical knowledge, resource management, acquisition, logistics, program management, strategic thinking with advanced education and credentialing in Aviation Safety Management, ISO 9001:2000 Lead Auditor, and iCMM evaluation. Whether functioning as a U.S. Air Force ATC'er, European Altitude Reservation Specialist, Air Traffic Complex Manager, Air Traffic Requirements advocate, or as a National Airspace System advisor to the FAA through September 2001 or in his capacity as a consultant, “JJ” as he is known, has become a sought after expert in air traffic management, aviation safety, transportation security and communications, navigation, and surveillance technology applications. Over the past four decades, JJ Johnson has continuously contributed to a safer more efficient air transportation system. JJ was instrumental in numerous post 9-11 interagency and international forums resulting in establishment of the National Capitol Region Coordination Center, Domestic Events Net, and a comprehensive blueprint for the evolution of the Nation’s domestic air surveillance system calling for the modernization of surveillance sensors, as well as establishing a robust distributive capability, to ensure the national surveillance support to over 15 government agencies. As an FAA consultant, Mr. Johnson acted as a consultant, principle advisor, and writer of the initial Next Generation Air Transportation System Plan, known today as NextGen, delivered to Congress in 2005. Participated in development, drafting, and coordination of FAA and ATO input to the National Strategy for Aviation Security and seven sub-strategies resulting from the Presidential Directive for Homeland Security 16 / Homeland Defense 47 Mission Analysis Team Lead, led interdepartmental team focused on locating and mitigating interference to ground and space-based navigation signals
