In the wake of studying for 6 months on a AI Leadership Bootcamp course at the University of Portsmouth I have been undertaking AI related business consultancy projects based primarily around the Drupal CMS AI Initiative. In addition I have been doing a deeper dive into AI related developments in areas that fascinate me such as the potential for AI to be used to enhance human abilities through neuroplasticity. I have also been networking with former colleagues to understand how AI can make a difference to their respective businesses, particularly in the area of streamlining content production, providing coding for web projects and insights through deep research.

During the time it took to learn to hear again electronically (see Career Break) I immersed myself deeper and deeper in the Drupal Content Management solution. Interesting learning experiences include using Drupal to :- * Create Progressive Web Applications * Develop an interactive game * Integrate with Spotify * Create a booking and availability system that integrates with mobile apps I have also done a lot of migration and maintenance work for varying Drupal versions including the more complex upgrade from Drupal 7 to 8.

I have had progressive and increasingly profound hearing loss for most of my adult life. By 2019 I was struggling with even the most advanced and most expensive hearing aids and qualified to receive a cochlear implant. Very luckily I had the operation in January 2020 due to another patient cancelling. It was activated a couple of weeks before the first COVID lockdown. It took around 12 months to distinguish accents and the voices of people I've always known and around 18 months before I felt confident in social situations again. Around 3 years after switch-on I began to get rudimentary enjoyment from music again. On the fifth anniversary of the switch-on (February 2025) I received a new set of processor equipment -the technology that sits outside my head and feeds the data to the implant. The associated tests for this upgrade showed my hearing had improved even further than any previous test - which is a remarkable and very welcome result.
