I qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA) in 1999 whilst working for one of the largest independent firms in North Yorkshire. Prior to this I had worked for smaller firms in Wakefield and Barnsley. During this time I gained experience in all areas of accountancy and taxation (both personal and corporate). I joined Sutton McGrath Hartley in 2001 and was appointed a partner in 2003. I took on the Managing Partner position in late 2017. I act for a large portfolio of successful owner managed and family businesses, providing practical and valuable accounting and taxation advice to these businesses at every stage of their life cycle. Clients include limited companies, partnerships and sole traders. My specialties are in audit and related taxation for those clients including, corporation tax, capital gains tax, VAT and PAYE. I also deal with personal and business tax compliance at SMH, ensuring that rigorous quality controls are applied to the preparation and submission of all returns to the Revenue, thereby minimising the probability that clients’ affairs will be subject to either full or aspect enquiries.
