Experienced British educator, IB English specialist, and published author with over 30 years of teaching experience across international and bilingual education in Spain. Specialist in English for Academic Purposes (EAP), academic writing, GCSE preperation, Cambridge Exam preperation, LOMLOE curriculum, literature instruction, and CLIL methodology, with experience preparing students for advanced academic study in IB programs. Alongside teaching, I am Editor of The Madrid Review, a bilingual literary and arts publication and the author of several published novels through Lodestone Books and Cognate Readers. I am married with two teenagers, speak English and Spanish and enjoy long distance swimming.
Founder and editor of a thrice-yearly literary magazine publishing contemporary fiction, poetry, visual art, and interviews with prominent voices from the international literary world. I am also the 'presidente' of the non-profit Asociacíon Madrid Review, which runs the magazine and associated events such as our Madrid Review Live nights. I oversee editorial direction, commissioning, contributor relations, production, and the management of a growing creative team. Alongside the print review, I also produce and develop podcast and multimedia projects connected to the magazine’s wider cultural mission.
Teacher of English Language and Literature across Secondary and Bachillerato levels (1º ESO–1º Bach), with experience delivering both the Spanish national curriculum under LOMLOE and the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP). I contribute to curriculum planning, unit implementation, assessment design, and student evaluation, with particular experience preparing students for Cambridge English examinations and supporting high academic performance across ESO and Bachillerato stages. Author of the Shakespeare’s Moon series — including The Invisible Hand, Cold Fire, and The Unexpected — a literary young adult sequence blending Shakespeare, speculative fiction, mythology, and contemporary coming-of-age narratives. Published through Cognate Books and Lodestone/John Hunt Publishing, the series reimagines Shakespearean texts through immersive storytelling designed to engage both general readers and students of literature. Alongside fiction, I write poetry, literary criticism, and cultural commentary, with a particular interest in Shakespeare, Renaissance literature, astronomy, mythology, and the intersection between education and storytelling. My work draws on extensive international teaching experience and a lifelong engagement with theatre, poetry, and performance traditions. I have also contributed articles, essays, and editorial work connected to Shakespearean studies, literary culture, and early modern poetry, engaging with themes including astronomy in Shakespeare, poetic language, and narrative reinterpretation. As founder and editor of The Madrid Review, I continue to champion contemporary poetry, fiction, visual art, and emerging literary voices through publishing, interviews, criticism, and multimedia projects.
Since completing a TEFL course at the Bridge Mills in Galway, Ireland, I have delivered English language instruction across an exceptionally broad range of academic, professional, and international contexts, teaching students from primary level through to adult and executive education in Ireland, France, Germany, Thailand finally Spain. My experience includes preparing students for major international examination systems and curricula, including IB, LOMLOE, GCSE, TOEFL, Cambridge English qualifications, and Oxford Trinity examinations. I have taught English Language and Literature across all stages of Secondary and Bachillerato education, with a strong focus on academic writing, communication, critical analysis, and examination success. Alongside school teaching, I have designed and delivered Business English training for professionals and corporate teams at major international companies including BBVA and IKEA. I have also led specialised English courses and seminars for government and civil service professionals in both Spain and Germany, as well as sector-specific language training for police officers and healthcare professionals in Thailand. Experienced in adapting teaching methodologies to diverse cultural, professional, and academic environments, with a strong emphasis on communication, learner engagement, and measurable progress.
Worked as a ghostwriter and editorial consultant across a range of commercial and literary publishing projects, collaborating with authors, educators, and independent publishers to develop manuscripts, narrative structure, author voice, and long-form fiction. Specialised in literary fiction, educational fiction, speculative storytelling, and Shakespeare-inspired narratives, with experience managing projects from concept development through editing and publication support. Alongside writing, I provided editorial guidance, manuscript assessment, developmental editing, and creative consultation for emerging writers and publishing projects.
