Senior Battery Test Engineer at Fortescue Zero, working in the Heavy Industry sector to decarbonise Fortescue’s fleet of mining vehicles. Graduate from the University of Warwick. Experience in battery performance testing, destructive testing and cell joining.
• 3 months as a CAE Engineer designing test fixtures and small components for full vehicle build programs and battery test applications. • 9 months as a Development and Test Engineer characterising new battery cells for electric vehicles and developing welding processes for battery joining.
• Managed a design team of undergraduate engineers. • Contributed to the design of the vehicle architecture, immersion cooled battery, transmission system and tail unit of the team's first electric motorcycle, built and tested in 2021. • The University of Warwick student race team was supported by WMG, Catapult HVM and Norton Motorcycles.
(1 week) • Gained insight into the operation of the structural engineering firm, including the relationship between the engineers and architects. • Learned the basics of structural analysis software (Tekla Structural Designer) and set up a wind load analysis to be completed on a high rise London building. • Went on a site visit to demonstrate the physical implementation of a digital structural design.
(1 week) • Obtained an overview of different departments within the company – Management, Quality Testing, Electronics and CAD. • Used precision measurement tools, including a CMM and 3D scanning arm to inspect component quality.
