Responsible for the management of a project focused on emerging infectious diseases with the potential to cause global pandemics. Responsibilities include management of all phases of project implementation including research, development of protocols and procedures, liaising with local governmental and non-governmental collaborators, training local veterinarians and additional staff in all aspects animal capture, sample collection and processing. Requires frequent international travel. Relief Veterinarian - Massachusetts June 2008 - Dec 2008 Provide veterinary services to several busy VCA operated small animal hospitals. Examine, diagnose and treat canine and feline patients and educate clients on pet healthcare. Work closely with staff to ensure positive experience for clients and pets.
Responsible for the overall management, operation and construction of GRACE center including veterinary care and protocols ensuring the health and well-being of resident gorillas. Developed operational plans for all aspects of the project and managed construction, budgets, staff development, and day to day activities. Contributed to grant writing efforts, provided reports for project development, and designed short and long-term action plans. Began the design and implementation of a comprehensive conservation education and public awareness program. And developed strong working relationships with local, regional and national officials to further the objectives of the project.
