As Agile Research Delivery Team Manager at NIHR Research Delivery Network, North West, I bring over two years of experience in primary care, residential, and community research within the North West Regional Research Delivery Network. My work focuses on facilitating access to research opportunities, supporting study teams and sponsors, and fostering engagement with diverse research sites, including GP practices, care homes, schools, and local authorities. By leveraging skills in residential and community research as well as community engagement, I aim to build strong collaborations, promote commercial research opportunities, and ensure effective support for research initiatives. My goal is to enhance access to high-quality research across healthcare and social care settings, benefiting patients and communities alike.
Leading on Primary Care, Residential and Community Research North West Regional Research Delivery Network. Supporting sites to access research opportunities and engage with study teams and sponsors to discuss the support of the NIHR. Sites include (but are not limited to) GP practices, care homes, domiciliary care, schools, prisons, dental practices and local authorities. In the primary care setting I have a focus on commercial research and supporting GP practices to enable better access to commercial research opportunities. This is achieved through building and maintaining relationships with sites and sponsors to provide the necessary support required. I am an accord specialist and study teams with cost attributions as well as the interactive costing tool for commercial research as required. As Primary Care and Social Care Research Operations Lead for the North West Research Delivery Network, I support wider care settings to become involved in research and offer opportunities to do so. Within the primary care setting my role has a focus on developing GP practices to become further involved in commercial research as following the Lord O’Shaughnessy review. Developing relationships with sponsors and study teams as well as GP practices, NHS trusts along with wider care settings along with supporting study costings through National Contract Value Review (NCVR) as well as SoECATs to ensure research payments are accurate. In terms of social care research I help shape researchers ideas and funding applications to put them in the best position to be able to deliver studies. This is through cross sector partnerships and driving innovation through research delivery. As part my wider social care/ social work/ community role I look to support enabling opportunities for research across the North West RDN for sites such as schools, community settings, charities, pharmacies, dental practices, local authorities, care homes and domiciliary care to name a few. As Industry Delivery Lead I supported research sites to achieve recruitment to time and target to life science/ commercial NIHR portfolio adopted studies. I supported opportunities for sites in the region to take part in research via expressions of interest and feasibility. I was a member of the Senior Leadership Team in the North West Coast Clinical Research Network. Performance monitoring of commercial research studies within the North West Coast region. Performance is regularly checked through NIHR systems and working with research sites through local portfolio management systems to ensure recruitment to time and time is accurate. Developing and building relationships with Life Science partners in order to bring further research opportunities to the North West Region. Supporting MedTech projects to offer future research opportunities within the NIHR. Oversight of the North West Coast Study Support Service with management of the Study Support Service Lead and Research Facilitators in the team looking into non commercial research studies. Engagement with research active and research naive sites to potentially become involved in commercial research opportunities. Developing strategies to enable sites in the region to have access to further commercial research and expanding the portfolio. Supporting sites with National Contract value review (NCVR) to ensure quick set up of studies and appropriate costs are factored into a research study.
