An experienced, reliable and motivated cost estimator who has spent twelve years working in the nuclear industry. Has gained exposure to the ways and processes of three differing nuclear establishments; Atkins Global (for Sellafield Limited), Heysham Power Station (EDF Energy) and BAE Systems Maritime Solutions - Submarines. During this time has gained a foundation degree in Project Management and Controls (Nuclear) at The University of Central Lancashire and since followed this up with a BSc Degree in Project Management at the Uniersity of Cumbria. Has also obtained the association of project management APMP level D qualification. Started career in the area of Project Planning within a project controls team before migrating over to Cost Estimating at BAE Systems as part of the whole boat pricing team within both the finance and commercial functions. Has gained experience in Cost Management as part of the Project Management function and also has experience with change proposals and RFQs as part of the change team. Has been heavily involved in quarterly EAC cycles, working closely with key stakeholders to provide Cost Estimating support across two major programmes within the Submarines business. Is currently undertaking CDY (Commercial Developing You) Advanced, working towards gaining World CC accreditation and has recently taken on a new role in the Central Commercial team within subs working cross programme to improve capability within the function, deliver training, driving development and supporting recruitment and apprentices.
Reasonableness of cost analysis through the creation of extensive scope based estimates to compare values accumulated in estimates to completion. Creation of 3 point estimates around labour man-hours to generate a price. Running of arisca monte carlo simulation software to generate deterministic and P70 values to support the price. Liaising with the commercial department in order to put together limit of liability uplifts during contract negotiation periods.
Responsible for providing planning support to the EDF Energy Generation work portfolio, creating plans for the full project lifecycle including development and design. Working with Project Managers to develop & manage schedules to incorporate risk, change, resource requirements and cost. Establishing and monitoring cost and resource loaded, logic linked, baselined plans in order to capture project budgetary costs and resources to determine time phasing of expenditure and the total project budget.Establish robust Work Breakdown and Project Control Structures in terms of project scope, in accordance with Investment Delivery processes, templates and Procedures.
Assistance to senior planners in the creation and maintenance of fully costed, resourced and logic linked programmes, including period end reporting. Has gained hands on experience on different programmes and has obtained full planning responsibility on two projects, working independently on scheduling and progressing the programmes with limited assistance from senior planners. Has also assisted within cost engineering including the creation and checking of timesheets and supplementary sheets as and when requested.
