Jaco started his career with client-server programming, evolving into web and cloud technologies, later moving into architecture, team leading and eventually directorship roles. Most recently he's been doing freelance contract golang development and AWS architecture. In his spare time he's been involved in a couple of startups doing mostly architectural design, team leading or backend implementation work. What he finds essential in the IT landscape is interpreting business strategy into an effective, maintainable solution.

Started DPG with including Belgian newspaper distributors into their distribu- tion and complaints processes. Moved on to various other projects like replac- ing paper-based delivery with an app-based digital delivery system. Stack is on AWS built with CDK, architected as asynchronous Lambdas communicating through topics and queues. We use golang to write services in various styles e.g. input/output, file pro- cessing, api end-points, anti-corruption layers, etc. with a focus on high- throughput. To achieve that we use single-purpose micro services combined with a range of techniques from multi-threading, concurrent architecture us- ing queues, etc.

I created this platform to solve two problems with crypto investments: - Centralised investment platforms are often exit-scam based - Centralised crypto trading systems trade against their customers This platform integrates with decentralised crypto trading platforms (like dYdX) to give traders access to a pool of investors, while minimising the risk to investors as much as possible.
I joined Ecochain to help the company scale and bring their platform in line with their vision. Was responsible for strategic decisions in the direction of IT pertaining to business goals, in terms of cost, timing, functionality, security, compliance and integration. Developed architecture for improved platform and implemented first POC, while recruiting the team who eventually took it to production.
