In addition to previous responsibilities, transitioned into a lead role for all of US West customer facing technical operations. Managed and trained several employees, ranging from senior to staff level.
Designed, architected, and implemented custom infrastructure solutions for dozens of clients with individual needs. These ranged from small customers with <10 daily active users upwards to deployments with 500+ daily active users. These included on-prem deployments and cloud deployments (AKS, GKE, EKS). Some clients provide their own custom kubernetes infrastructure and network that require me to integrate our solution into, other customers would provide requirements and then I would design and build from scratch. I was also responsible for maintaining these deployments long term, which included documentation, upgrades, patches, and ad-hoc customer change requests. Developed and used internal python tooling which leveraged terraform and cloudformation.
In addition to my existing responsibilities, my role expanded to include: new candidate screening via resume, phone interview, and in-person interviews; primary decision maker for candidate advancement through recruitment pipeline; project planning, scoping, and prioritization; traveling to on-site meetings with clients as a subject matter expert; representing team internally at cross-domain meetings; establishing internal coding and process best practices followed by documentation and training others; primary point of contact 24/7/365 for urgent production issues.
Worked as liaison between external clients, data science team, and development team to architect and implement solutions for integrating our data analytics platform with client systems and databases. Rapidly changed context to handle ever-shifting priorities as new clients were brought on-board and requirements evolved. Followed industry best practices to ensure new solutions were modular and easily reusable for future clients. Handled on-call responsibilities for entire production service across multiple data centers around the world. Primarily wrote new tools and functionality using java and shell scripts.
During some restructuring as part of the initial spinoff of Amplero from Globys, I worked a short contract on Rover's DevOps team. My primary focus was on improving the continuous build pipeline.
Designed and architected new cloud infrastructure solution for several interdependent proprietary web applications using AWS CloudFormation. Implemented continuous integration and deployment pipeline within the new cloud infrastructure using Git, Jenkins, Chef, and Asgard. Trained existing employees on new tools and practices. Primarily worked on new infrastructure and migration, but also helped maintain and improve existing application stacks as needed.
Consulted and coordinated with clients and stakeholders on a wide variety of new system architecture solutions and existing framework improvement projects. Worked on design and implementation of new tools, processes, and automation. Was responsible for both day to day deployments and critical infrastructure emergencies, as well as root cause analysis and creating long-term solutions.Trained multiple new team members on all of the above while in a very volatile and fast-paced work environment, bringing them up to speed in 2 weeks or less.
