As a native English speaker with a background in research, I help academics communicate their ideas to a wider audience with high fidelity.
I conducted preclinical research on novel pharmaceutical compounds in a murine xenograft model of castration-resistant prostate cancer. I assisted with a breeding effort to produce transgenic mice.
I performed basic science research ranging from biochemical to cell biological investigations of the mechanism of action of a novel anti-convulsant drug called levetiracetam or Keppra(TM). Duties included protein expression in E. coli and HEK cells as well as protein purification via affinity pulldown and size-exclusion chromatography. I received training on a variety of microscopes including confocal, fluorescence and electron microscopes. I created a variety of DNA vectors using basic cloning techniques. I also performed basic biochemistry like SDS-PAGE for Western blotting and gel electrophoresis to analyze DNA fragments.
I taught small groups of students in quiz sections, lecturing and elaborating on topics taught in class and designing my own supplemental study materials.
