As a Cyber Security Analyst at Akademia, I apply my expertise in digital forensics and system administration to protect the organization's IT infrastructure from cyber threats. I have a Master of Computer Science degree from the University of Pretoria, where I specialized in digital forensics. I also hold certifications in IT surveillance and computer forensics from Udemy. In addition to my role as a Cyber Security Analyst, I am a part-time lecturer at Akademia, where I share my knowledge and experience with students. I am passionate about staying updated on the latest trends and technologies in the field of cybersecurity and continuously seeking opportunities to enhance my skills and contribute to the growth and development of the organization.
As a part-time Digital Forensic Examiner Candidate at DFIRLABS, I participated in a structured digital forensics and incident response (DFIR) program from March 2020 to December 2022. The program combined formal training, mentorship, and practical investigative work, focusing on the end-to-end execution of digital forensic investigations. My responsibilities included the identification, preservation, acquisition, and analysis of digital evidence in accordance with forensic best practices. I was trained to ensure that evidence was handled in a forensically sound manner, maintaining integrity and admissibility through proper documentation, chain-of-custody procedures, and validated acquisition techniques. I assisted with Windows-based forensic investigations, performing analysis of system artifacts, file systems, logs, and user activity to support investigative objectives. This included the use of forensic tools and methodologies to identify relevant evidence, reconstruct events, and support conclusions. The program also included exposure to the legal aspects of digital forensics. I contributed to the preparation of forensic reports and supporting documentation, including affidavits, ensuring that findings were clearly documented and suitable for legal or disciplinary proceedings. I completed full DFIR training and obtained the Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE) certification under mentorship during this period. This role provided comprehensive, hands-on experience in digital forensic investigations, incident response processes, and the legal and procedural requirements associated with handling digital evidence.
