In my role as Senior Accountant I was responsible for overseeing and completing the following tasks and functions; Processing of bank statements. Monthly bank reconciliations. General ledger accounting to trial balance. Creditor and debtor control and reconciliation. Payroll calculation, submission and reconciliation. EMP501 reconciliation and submission. VAT calculation, returns and reconciliation. Income tax calculation, returns and reconciliation (Companies, Trusts and individuals). Dividends withholding tax calculation, returns and reconciliation. Staff training. General practice admin. Staff and practice planning. New client recruitment. Work in progress admin and billing. Liaising with clients. Preparation of audit files. Compilation of financial statements. IFRS compliance. Various other accounting and IT related duties.
In my position as Financial Manager for the group I was responsible for ensuring compliance relating to IFRS, Income Tax, VAT, Employee Taxes as well as health and safety. I was responsible for compiling Annual Financial Statements for 2 companies, 2 individuals as well as one trust. Further to my responsibilities relating to financial management, I was responsible for stock control and sales management of the Retail Tyre Fitment Centre which forms part of the group. In my tenure at the group I implemented policies to ensure effective cost management, controls to ensure financial and legal compliance. I also assisted in obtaining bank financing for the construction of new properties.
During my tenure at The Green Pencil Accounting firm I enjoyed exposure to a wide field in the accounting industry. My responsibilities included but were not limited to: cashbook processing, VAT compliance, PAYE compliance, Income tax compliance for individuals, closed corporations, trusts and private companies. The majority of my time was spent on the preparation of financial statements, using tools such as Caseware and Microsoft Excel. I enjoyed exposure to group financial statement preparation and group consolidation on a complex level. I worked closely with clients as well as audit managers to ensure that IFRS compliance and accuracy of financial statements. Furthermore I enjoyed exposure in the field of trust account accounting for both real estate agencies as well as law firms.
