• Architected and implemented a serverless data lake built on Amazon S3 and Athena. • Built ETL pipelines using Amazon Kinesis, Lambda, and EMR. • Reported on departmental KPI’s based on analysis of application logs, conducted ad-hoc analysis in response to business questions using Jupyter notebooks.
• Financial analysis and forecasting of AWS costs using Excel. • Built dashboards tracking product usage in Amazon QuickSight and Tableau.
• Led a team of software engineers tasked with creating a new company function to ensure the timely and reliable deployment of applications into the production environment. • Developed and maintained a code deployment pipeline including running Subversion and Git, TeamCity, and a custom node.js-based application deployment system. This system supported more than 300 applications running on over 2,000 servers. • Responsible for 14 internal services comprised of 25 applications running on over 40 servers. • Supported 200 internal users of these services; established and staffed an on-call rotation. • Authored and applied policies covering support, deployments, backups, documentation, and monitoring. • Implemented comprehensive server and application monitoring using a Nagios-based system.
• Technical lead for a major client account, created a large data-driven website using HTML/CSS/Javascript on the front end and C# (ASP.NET MVC) on the back end. • Served on a working group dedicated to creating libraries and developing coding standards for the entire development team. • Developed a library for automation of internal RPC services based on an in-house data transfer protocol akin to ProtocolBuffers. Used scripts based on this library to resolve numerous operational issues. • Was twice the recipient of the prestigious Yoda Award for development excellence.
• Trained and supervised a research group of seven undergraduates, created a documentation website and established code reviews. • Standardized the technology used for the lab’s research on a Java-based platform and introduced Subversion for version control. • Implemented a high energy physics simulation pipeline in Perl which significantly increased the efficiency of the group’s computer simulations.
