As a Student Telethon Caller, I work for charitable campaigns set up by the University. I call friends and alumni of the University, not just to ask for generous donations but also to let them know that the University still cares about how they are doing. The job allows me to showcase and improve my communication skills. From September 2017 I will be working as a Supervisor during the Telethon campaigns. The added responsibility of this leadership role will give me a chance to develop new skills.
As a Student Ambassador, I help out at University events. My roles can range from giving guided campus tours to taking Q&A sessions from primary school students, but in everything I do I am professional and communicate appropriately.
Impact Magazine is the University of Nottingham's official student magazine. In my final year at the University of Nottingham I was Editor of the magazine's Features section, expanding on my role as a contributor in previous years. The Editor role allowed me to make decisions about the direction of the section, commissioning articles and liaising with external organisations to agree coverage, editing and uploading articles on Wordpress, and meeting tight deadlines for print issues of the magazine.
As a Campaign Intern at Nottingham BID I have helped to organise Nottingham's first ever StudentFest, a night of shopping and leisure activities designed to help student integration into the city community, showcasing what Nottingham has to offer. As part of this I have collated business data, organised many different aspects of the event and helped to create a festival guide.
