TL;DR: Diploma in Computer Science; PhD in Bioinformatics; 10+ years industry experience with lots of inspiring leadership training to enable my teams to make an impact. As undergrad, I helped anybody with a computer to fix up their stuff. Friends, individuals, small businesses. Postgrad, I enabling biologists at the University of Heidelberg, Germany, deal with what would soon be termed “Next Generation Sequencing” data. It was fun and important work - and I got to make an impact on a whole other level. Postdoc, I got to support 100+ biologists at the National Center for Tumor Diseases in Heidelberg, Germany, bioinformatically monitoring preclinical and clinical gene therapy trials giving terminal newborns a chance at surviving. What were the odds that I'd ever get to make a difference for anything such mind-blowingly impacting? End of 2011, I started my adventure at CLC bio. Black web page. Red logo & fonts. Scientific, modern, disruptive, Danish. And I got to help build a market leading bioinformatics software suite. One of its kind, globally. CLC bio turned a hitherto opaque nerd science into a commodity software portfolio that enabled thousands of scientists and biologists globally to accelerate their daily scientific turnover by putting highly complex, bioinformatics methods at their fingertips. In 2014, German reagents giant, QIAGEN, had just acquired CLC bio, I assumed people responsibility and direct customer access as manager of CLC bio's Custom Solutions department. So now I led a team of professionals building software customizations for most of the top-ten international biopharma, among others, a clinical testing giant in the U.S.. My team was directly involved in managing their NGS pipelines in their 'production' analysis pipeline. Unfathomable! Looking back, I'm proud and humbled. Today, I lead interdisciplinary, highly trained, peak-performing teams to extend & maintain our Discovery Bioinformatics software portfolio at QIAGEN in Aarhus, Denmark. Leadership is how I make a difference today. Highly organized, analytical, passionate, empathic, empowering. And Computer Science and People Management are my daily tools: hire, onboard, build trust, develop, show direction, enable, and remove obstacles. And again. Leading others to make an impact ... is how I make an impact today.
Overall responsibility for the entire Discovery Bioinformatics portfolio branded as 'CLC Genomics Workbench' and friends with all product owners reporting directly to me. Personnel responsibility for the respective engineering teams comprising product owners, project managers, personnel managers, software architects and engineers as well as bioinformaticians.

Further development of bioinformatics tools. First authored white paper on CLC Read Mapper and coauthored numerous others.
Software design and development in the Next-Generation-Sequencing (NGS) space: plugin development for the CLC bio platform, most prominently, read mapping, local realignment and Bisulfite-sequencing analysis tools.
Bioinformatics support of over 100 biologists in their daily work with NGS data types in the context of gene therapy research and monitoring of clinical gene therapy trials.
