Aspiring Planetary/Earth Scientist, highly driven to make a meaningful impact for the planet throughout my career. Self-motivated and curious, I have carried out independent research projects to advance my understanding of geology and natural processes alongside my A-levels (Chemistry, Core Maths, Geography, Photography). Self-employed private tutor in Maths and English, helping students build confidence and reach their goals. Work experience at United Utilities and Waitrose & Partners strengthened my understanding of sustainability, resource management and the role of global collaboration in tackling environmental challenges. These insights continue to fuel my ambition to pursue a career in Earth Science.
As an experienced Maths and English tutor, I’ve developed strong communication skills, adaptability, and the ability to explain complex ideas in a clear and engaging way. My positive friendly tutoring style has enabled me to create an encouraging working environment for my students, giving them the confidence to make mistakes and learn from them.
Shadowing Water Resources Team, I gained valuable insight into the complex and interconnected system of reservoirs that supply water across the region. I learned how the team monitors reservoir levels, river flows, and weather data to ensure sustainable water management and supply resilience. My role also involved assisting with the preparation and publication of the weekly water resources report, which I uploaded to the company’s website. This task required attention to detail and an understanding of how data informs public communication and operational decision-making within a large utility company.
Working closely with the Biodiversity Officer on and off Leckford Estate, I learned about the comercial and agricultural sides of Waitrose’s food production. Some of my responsibilities included helping a Master’s student conduct research for her dissertation, conducting soil assessments to analyse soil health and nutrient levels and carrying out species counts. This practical experience advanced my knowledge of feildwork techniques such as sampling and amplified my apreciation for the natural world! I also had the privilege of working with the Water Gardens Team at Longstock Water Gardens, helping to remove reeds in the water systems which where harmful to local ecosystems. Not only was this an extremely enjoyable and rewarding experience, it required me to looks at soil-plant interactions and take observations of soil moisture levels improving my understanding of how environmental factors affect vegetation.

My experience in hospitality has given me valuable skills such as working calmly and efficiently under pressure and team collaboration with my colleagues to achieve our collective goals. My experience at Brucan Pubs greatly advanced my customer service skills.
