• Magnet Lead Teacher After my first year of teaching I was offered and accepted the position of Police Academy Magnet Lead teacher. During my service I was responsible for the following duties in addition to teaching six classes. Responsibilities Include: - Facilitating and organizing faculty meetings: Choosing topic that will help increase student achievement. - Creating and maintaining the Police Academy Magnet Parent handbook - Overseeing student leadership elections - Organizing of class competitions that focus on improving student CST Test Scores - Attend school site council meetings to advocate on behalf of the students. • AP Language and Composition Teacher My syllabus was approved by the college board in April of 2008. Responsibilities Include: - Preparing students for college level work - Aiding students with college application process - Accompanying students on college tours • Awards Coordinator. • Curriculum Mapping Team I was responsible for working with the English chair to create the 11th Grade Curriculum Map that focused on offering fair and equitable education for the students. • International Baccalaureate Certified • Guiding Teacher I worked closely with a Cal State Los Angeles student as her guiding teacher. Provided teacher with valuable feedback. • ELL (English Language Learners) Teacher I have taught and been trained in ELL instruction. Student achievement rouse and there was an increase in student retention. • Shakespeare I performed research around finding out how low performing students learn best. Due to high interest in performing art expressed by the students, I created a Shakespeare English class at the school. Now the class is being taught school wide. • Professional Learning Communities (PLC) I created custom assessments help assess student literacy levels and based on the results I began to tailor my lessons around effective differentiated instruction.
