It all started with a challenge. The challenge that has changed my life. Back in my school days, all subjects were exciting and almost easy for me. However, there was one I could not master, could not understand. It was physics. I was told to give up, to simply memorize material for exams and be done with it, but I always needed to understand the nature of things. So after graduation from school, I decided to take up this challenge, go to university, and study physics. Ten years later I obtained a PhD in experimental nuclear physics at one of the world’s leading particle accelerators. What did I pick up on the way apart from the field-specific knowledge? Quite a number of skills and experiences: - I learned to love everything related to mathematics, physics, programming, technology, and analytics. Troubleshooting, data crunching, optimization of systems and processes, learning new things and dealing with unknown challenges on a daily basis, using a structured and efficient approach - all this became an essential part of my professional and personal life. On my laptop, there are Excel tables for literally everything, starting with the analytics of stock markets and ending with optimization of vacation logistics. - I obtained invaluable experience of working in international teams of highly-qualified professionals and of leading them. I realized that people are the drive of any business, industry, or research. Nothing gives me more pleasure than solving a complex case in a team effort. What do I do now? I have transferred my motivation, skills, and experience into the fields of Cloud Technologies and Business Consulting. Nowadays, IT is transforming the world we live in, and Cloud is transforming IT. I find this combination of innovative technologies and ideas, business processes and people, who drive all of it forward, almost electrifying.
