About

My work gravitates between the analysis of the Economics of Conflict and Economic Development. I am broadly interested in understanding individual and collective economic behavior in contexts with inadequate protection of property rights. My research methods comprise modeling and applied econometrics focusing on spatial analysis. I have used the former to evaluate place-based policies against illicit activities and conflict, the link between migration and crime, and the relationship between international trade and wars. My academic work has been accepted for publication in journals such as the Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Canadian Journal of Economics, and Economic Theory. Beyond academic papers, I contribute policy-oriented articles to blogs, including the Vox CEPR Policy Portal and Focoeconomico. I earned a Ph.D. in Economics from Indiana University and currently serve as a faculty member in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Sabanci University.
