My name is Isha Balouch and I am an honors pre-medical alum from the University of Oklahoma. I received my B.S. in Microbiology in 2023 with a minor in Medical Humanities and Spanish. Currently, I am attending the Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences to pursue a Graduate Certificate in Medical Sciences. My goal is to attend OSU College of Medicine and to gain experience in patient care and clinical research. One of my biggest inspirations is from volunteering at Manos Juntas, a free clinic in OKC. This experience has inspired me to pursue medicine in order to improve health outcomes for marginalized communities that often are overlooked in the medical field. My past work in an anaerobic microbiology lab at the University of Oklahoma has encouraged me to continue working towards new discoveries through research and scientific collaboration.
Worked in the De Leon Lab to study anaerobic microbes with biochemical and molecular methods.
As a medical assistant, I maintained patient records, triaged patients, administered medication, and assisted health providers with examinations.
