Current PhD student at the University of Manchester working as part of the Bupa prosperity partnership, looking at the reuse of medical devices with sterilisation for improved sustainability in the medical sector. Previous industry experience as a materials engineer, spanning the development of technologies ranging from personal care applications, to the scale up of a bio-based polymer paper coating.
Working within the Bristol Turbines Facility at Rolls Royce. Undertaking audits of the shop floor to ensure compliance to internal Rolls-Royce standards. Writing technical reports and overseeing manufacturing processes including heat treatment and brazing and coatings.
Career break between jobs. - Successfully completed Python and apps coding course with Code First Girls. - Volunteered at Glastonbury and Wilderness Festivals with Oxfam. - Worked on building up my art portfolio. - Commenced half marathon training.
Collaborating with external partners for scale-up processing of Kelpi material. Characterisation and development of biodegradable, high performance paper coatings from seaweed derivatives for single-use packaging applications. Designing experiments to investigate additives for cost reduction and improved performance. Leading on a number of product development tasks for reputable clients. Working on outreach initiatives with local schools in collaboration with Science Creates Outreach.
Materials Engineering role within the energy storage team, focusing on the characterisation (including SEM/EDX, XPS, TGA and DSC) of new battery materials.
