The goal of the SPS group is to direct the substantial technical knowledge that GL GH has as a company, into services which meet the policy and strategy needs of the industry. This is done by joining forces with many different experts across the company to try and find uniquely valuable perspectives and intelligent strategies based on what is actually happening on the ground. I work over a full range of renewable technologies with three broad classes of clients: Governments, Institutional investors ( e.g. WorldBank, IFC), and private companies. For governments the team's work tends to focus on analysis and advice relating to policy decisions and supporting market intelligence. The institutional investor clients often require a blend of policy and strategy work and assignments could range from defining a framework for promoting growth in an industry segment to developing a renewable energy roadmap for a developing country. For private clients , I typically work on market entry analysis and competitive positioning, in particular for companies diversifying into renewables or established players looking to expand into new market sectors and countries.
My work involves undertaking feasibility studies of large scale wind and solar projects in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The work entails assessing wind or solar resource, micro-siting equipment and calculating energy output and losses. I also have experience in the assessment of remote sensing technologies in wind applications. I am responsible for client contact and project management on some large wind projects and have been involved in Due Diligence work for several international banks. I have some experience of international donor procedures through work undertaken for various organisations

While researching my PhD, I worked as a part-time lecturer in the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, teaching undergraduates the Engineering with German modules. I also acted as a tutor for the "Advanced mathematical modelling techniques" module for final year students.
