I am a goal-oriented and compassionate educational leader with over 26 years in education and a strong desire to empower others to educate the whole child through visual and performing arts, physical education, science, social studies, language arts, and mathematics.
As a Music Specialist, I have provided general music instruction to students in Preschool-8th grade, including students in our moderate/severe special education program, behavioral program, autism program, and students in our Oral and Total Communication Deaf and Hard of Hearing program.
As the Program Director of Arts, I developed, planned, coordinated and directed a District-wide comprehensive art program in the areas of visual arts, fine arts, applied arts, and performing arts. I oversaw the implementation of programs to include, but not limited to All the Arts for All the Kids TK-6; Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) programs TK-8, including Jr. High Arts Programs/Electives; and The Shared Theater Arts Grand Experience (STAGE). I supported District designated Art Schools in the development and sustainability of the schools’ vision that included an integrated art approach. In addition, I organized community outreach programs, student showcases, art focused instructional programs, and district-wide art nights/events to promote diversity, multicultural awareness, and inclusion that was represented through the Arts. - Planned, organized, and directed District and school specific art program services in accordance with district policies and procedures - Established and maintained regular programs and schedules for Arts program participants and staff - Worked with various agencies and organizations to develop professional learning opportunities for Arts program participants - Hired, assigned, scheduled, supervised, trained, and evaluated personnel and Arts Staff - Generated program funding (fee-based programs, grants, etc.) - Monitored planned, and administered program budgets and expenditures - Utilized appropriate accounting procedures for recording all program income and expenditures, as well as equipment and supply inventories - Directed the forecasting of additional funding needed for staffing, equipment, facilities, materials and supplies - Coordinated all maintenance and facility needs - Collaborated with community organizations and partners to establish opportunities for showcasing student artwork and promoting the Arts through District-wide art nights - Supervised after school and summer Arts programs
As Arts and Music TOSA, I developed a plan for all students in grades TK-6 to receive arts education experiences in each of the four arts domains: dance, theater, visual art, and music. I worked with an arts committee comprised of teachers, community members, businesses, administrators and parents to align arts opportunities with grade level content and visual and performing arts standards. In addition to coordinating staff development, peer coaching, and curriculum planning in music, I coordinated all arts events for 9 schools in the Magnolia School District, aided in the implementation of a new district band program, analyzed fiscal resources, ordered supplies, and acted as a liaison to local service providers and district staff as needed.

I provided intervention strategies for strategic and intensive learners in order to help them achieve at grade-level in language arts and mathematics. After school, I provided choir, percussion, and recorder instruction aligned with state standards for 4th-6th grade students district-wide. In addition, I collaborated with teachers and administration to create a new vision for arts throughout the school district, so that we could better educate the whole child.
I taught 3rd grade while providing students with data-driven instruction and empowering students to become life long learners. I have taught general education for 1st-3rd grade students. I have participated in Critical Friends Group protocols to map curriculum and guide instruction. In addition, I have organized school-wide events to promote a positive school culture for key stakeholders. Previously, I had ten years experience as a music educator in grades 3-6 and have facilitated staff meetings and professional development opportunities, researched and presented currently adopted textbooks, and worked collaboratively to align instruction to the state standards.
