I currently work as a Medical Laboratory Assistant in NHS Cellular Pathology, supporting histopathology, neuropathology, and diagnostic cytology services. Through this role, I contribute to specimen reception, laboratory processes, quality management, and the diagnostic pathway, helping to ensure accurate and timely patient results. I graduated with Distinction from the University of Liverpool, completing an MRes in Biomedical Sciences and Translational Medicine (Medical Sciences Pathway). My research focused on treating 3D liver cell models with therapeutic drugs to investigate liver disease, involving 10 months of hands-on laboratory work. Prior to this, I achieved a First Class Honours degree in Biomedical Science from the Liverpool John Moores University (IBMS-accredited). My final-year project explored current and emerging therapeutic strategies for Alzheimer’s disease and received a high first-class mark (83%). I also achieved 90%+ scores in neuroscience and physiology modules. I have also gained industry experience at Reckitt, working across R&D formulation (Dettol antiseptics and first aid products) and global regulatory compliance for OTC medicines. This provided valuable insight into both the technical and regulatory aspects of healthcare product development and maintenance. I am passionate about diagnostic science, pathology, and translational research, with a strong interest in applying scientific knowledge to improve patient outcomes and healthcare services.
Working within the Cellular Pathology department, supporting histopathology, neuropathology, and diagnostic cytology services. Responsible for specimen reception and preparation, laboratory administration, data entry, slide and block management, quality assurance procedures, and assisting in the processing of patient samples to support accurate and timely diagnosis.
Supported the development and innovation of first aid antiseptic liquid products within the germ protection category. Contributed to product development activities, successfully completing formulation work on over 200 batch formulas. Gained hands-on experience in both GMP and non-GMP manufacturing environments. Assisted in troubleshooting formulation and process issues to improve product consistency and manufacturing efficiency.
Supported regulatory compliance activities in post-market product maintenance for leading over-the-counter (OTC) pharmaceutical brands including Nurofen, Disprin, Strepsils, and Gaviscon. Assisted with navigating complex regulatory requirements across multiple global markets, helping ensure products met applicable legal and safety standards. Collaborated closely with senior regulatory staff and cross-functional teams to support dossier preparation, variations, and regulatory submissions.
