Birmingham, England, United Kingdom
I am currently attending King Edward VI Handsworth Grammar School for Girls as a Year 12 student aspiring to pursue a career in medicine.
In this role, I support the well-being of the students of lower years.
In this role, I assist and mentor junior-grade students.
I author articles on various medical subjects, such as women's and children's health, physiology, NHS ethical guidelines, and the impact of AI in healthcare. I oversee and guide a dedicated team of writers, ensuring their work is refined and ready for publication. In addition, I am responsible for managing the journal's website and overseeing its social media activities.
During my week-long pharmacy work experience, I gained valuable skills in dispensing, communication, pharmaceutical knowledge, teamwork, time management, patient interaction, clinical shadowing, and project development. Additionally, I undertook a project on vitamins and presented it to the pharmacists and technicians on site.
As part of my work experience at Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, I had the opportunity to shadow a consultant in Upper Gastro-Intestinal and Laparoscopic surgery. This experience included participating in ward rounds and observing team management, leadership, and decision-making processes. I learned how an endoscopy procedure is performed, providing valuable insights into surgical practices and patient care.
