• In charge of training new directors of nursing and retraining seasoned directors in multiple campuses throughout California. • Providing support, consultation, and leadership to each campus DON & their nursing department. • Supporting the process of developing and implementing policies and procedures necessary for each practice setting and provision of quality care. • Continually exploring evidence based best practices to implement into the programs. • Providing weekly nursing teaching/training to new and seasoned nurses in multiple sister campuses of the organization. • Precepting and mentoring nursing interns- in graduate and undergraduates programs.
Duties include but not limited to: · Management of the Nursing Department · Coordinating client care with other disciplines and departments. · Responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Department by following federal and state guidelines, and regulations that govern facility. · Ensuring that quality care for all patients/clients is provided and always maintained. · Directing and coordinating all aspects of nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. · Collaborating and coordinating care with pharmacy, laboratory, public guardian’s office, and county placement teams. · Responsible for the maintenance of quality care and improvement, promoting and optimizing health, and prevention of illness. · Educating, training, and mentoring nurses, and unlicensed staff regarding infection control, and other health related activities in compliance with current licensing and accrediting policies and regulations. · Facilitator of clinical rotations for local nursing schools.
· Fulfilled the role of Charge Nurse, with responsibility to supervise 7-8 RN’s and 3-4 nurse aides each shift. · Organized unit activities for a 50-bed, fast paced medical unit, which provides care for patients with acute and chronic illnesses and supported unit during rapid response calls and codes. · Responsible for teaching patients and their family members, upon admission, during their hospital stay and upon discharge. · Member of the nurse educator committee- a unit-based committee.
· Fulfilled the role of a Charge Nurse, with responsibility to supervise 5 RN’s and 3 nurse aides in any given shift in a fast-paced med/surg unit. · Organized unit activities in this 24-bed unit, which provided care to patients with acute and chronic illnesses. · Member of a hospital-based committee, representing the med/surg unit in shared governance meetings during the application process for the magnet status. · Designated nurse preceptor, and new hire trainer.
· Fulfilled the role of Nurse Manager/Wellness Coordinator, with responsibilities to supervise 45 nurse aides and 20 Medication Technicians in a 50-bed assisted living facility. · Responsible for the health and wellness of 50 Alzheimer residents. · Organized monthly assessments, annual physical exams, and periodic physician follow ups for facility residents. · Responsible for teaching and training, nurse aids and medication assistants for the facility.
