About

Mechanical engineer by training and Associate Partner at McKinsey, with a career centered on delivering transformations in capital-intensive, asset-heavy environments. I hold a PhD in Mechanical Eng (w/ 1200+ citations and 15+ papers) from UC Berkeley and built my foundation in engineering systems, sensors, additive manufacturing, and multiphysics analysis. At McKinsey, for 5 years I've been leading OPEX, CAPEX, and digital transformations across energy sector, incl. oil & gas, gas distribution, and public-sector. My work spans operational and digital diagnostics, integrated planning and optimization, operating model and governance redesign, and PMOs for $100M+ capital programs, with direct engagement at CEO and ExCo level. As analytics & AI increasingly shape industrial decisions, I've deliberately invested in hands-on technical depth to complement my leadership experience—ensuring decisions remain grounded in how physical systems actually behave. Key experience Supported downstream O&G company in EEMA across 2 countries via: agile transformation, production stress testing across refinery & petchem, value creation with $50M+ recurring impact and developed a crude oil procurement market price benchmarking tool Developed business model and spin-off strategy for large Turkish conglomerate on its solar panel assembly business for distributed generation Led operational and digital transformation of an integrated gas distribution company (retail and distribution) in EEMA through: operational & digital diagnostics, OPEX and CAPEX transformation, future-oriented operating model unbundling including key business process redesign, governance and perf management and cultural change program Created a B2B partnership between EU and Central Asian gas DSO on digital transformation of gas networks including digital roadmap development and sustainability use-case show case in COP29 for automated gas leakage detection Developed a value creation program via digital value chain optimization and planning tool identified $40M+ Developed country-level decarbonization strategy for 2035 targets including investment and technical development assessment, supported multi-entity stakeholder alignment at top level dentified $250M+ foreign direct investment potential in manufacturing-related industries, developed outreach acceleration governance and program management office design and processes. Developed a digitally-enabled future-oriented Green Industrial Economic Zone plan (including industry selection, location selection, CAPEX, OPEX, and PPP financial models)

Experience

  • Associate Partner at McKinsey & Company

  • Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company

  • President at Turkish Student Association at Berkeley

As the president of the Turkish Student Association at Berkeley I focused on creating a welcoming environment for Turkish students and foreign students who are interested in Turkish culture. We organized various social events to this end. I also focused on restructuring the student organization, by creating an official board and officer positions and holding elections for each position. By the end of my term in September 2018 we had a board of 8 people. During my term I also had the honor of hosting various delegations from Turkey both from the government and private companies.

  • Research Intern at Facebook

My internship focused on technology transfer and the development of wearable sensors using novel fabrication methods developed at Facebook.

  • Director of M3B Laboratory Research Program at University of California, Berkeley

The micro-mechanical methods for biology (M3B) program, a part of the Liwei Lin Lab, aims to combine all levels of students in mechanical engineering, bioengineering, molecular and cell biology and chemical engineering to develop novel materials, fabrication and detection techniques for microfluidic platforms, soft sensors, and soft actuators. As co-director I had the opportunity to mentor 6 undergraduate students.

  • Postdoctoral Researcher at Bilkent University

I worked on creating sub-micron particle (viruses, etc.) detectors using NEMS (Nano Electro Mechanical Systems) technologies for COVID-19.

  • Associate at McKinsey & Company

  • Doctoral Researcher at University of California, Berkeley

I developed various 3D printed sensing and energy harvesting platforms. I published 13 research papers, including a review paper on 3D printing and its applications.

  • M.S./Ph.D. Student in Mechanical Engineering at University of California, Berkeley

Developed a novel magnetically driven abrasive polishing process to polish internal surfaces of 3D printed copper waveguides.
