Having worked for many years, in a wide variety of industries, designing everything from large scale handling equipment to intricate mechanisms for food & pharm. manufacture, I have acquired very diverse experience and knowledge, but always with a mission of learning and applying innovative thinking to new design challenges. As well as a wide knowledge base in manufacturing methods and materials, I have good academic skills in engineering calculation and mathematical analysis. I am an enthusiastic and able engineer with good practical 'shop floor' understanding of sheet metalwork, welding, machining etc. and have a small workshop at home for my many hobbies and personal projects. As well as being an umbrella company for other contractors IDD Ltd. offers my services both onsite and remotely (concurrent & real time), using a variety of ftp networking and cloud access methods. We also have an FDM rapid prototyping facility for small low volume components where appropriate. Currently researching & developing eco-friendly solutions for domestic harvesting of energy and potable water, such as bio-sand water filtration, bio-diesel, bio-gas, syn-gas, solar electricity and solar thermal.
Domestic Bio-Sand filtration plant to create potable water from harvested rainwater. The system comprises of a bio-sand filter followed by 2 stages of gravel-sand-charcoal particulate filtering. It is entirely passive being gravity driven and is only raised to domestic plumbing pressure using a single solar powered pump on demand. I have also designed an 80,000 Litre rainwater harvesting and storage facility for the gardens of a tourist villa estate. The whole facility being disguised under a decked platform.
Design and manufacture of 3 Machines with interchangeable tooling for the ultrasonic welding assembly of light clusters on the Porsche J1.
Design for manufacture of rear sub-assembly of the world’s lightest folding bicycle. Concept design proposals for aero engine component integration and power take-off systems. Ford hybrid prototype under bonnet support metalwork and component packaging.
Design and manufacture of fabricated steel cantilever frame for water tank installation. Design & re-routing of marine engine fuel system. A proposal for the small batch manufacture of a rare classic car engine cylinder head & manifold. A number of bespoke plastic components were designed and manufactured using FDM rapid prototyping.
