Greater Toronto Area, Canada
My work varies from architecture and urban design, experimental explorations to cultural mapping, documentation and research. Working in and with the indigenous communities in Sweden and Pakistan, has expanded my architectural knowledge as well as my understanding of diverse cultural fabrics, developing my skills as a specialist in Tangible and Intangible cultural heritage, community based inventorying and a community resource person. My research has been shaped by a focus in critical, relational, social and urban approaches in architecture, therefore developing a keen interest in the local context, culture and community. Over the years I have had the privilege to work on projects awarded by UNESCO, Canada Funds for Local Initiatives, US Aid and many such organisations to help document and map cultural heritage, historic architectural buildings and monuments as well as sustainable green construction for disaster hit areas. I also have adept knowledge of designing and developing curriculum and course outlines for Bachelor of Architecture, ensuring student centric learning. I work towards creating a comfortable classroom environment, where everyone becomes a stakeholder enabling students to think critically and creatively. In addition, I’m a photographer and a set designer for theatre productions.
