Comprising KBR, AECOM, John Holland, CPB Contractors, Alstom, Metro Trains Melbourne, V/Line and Rail Projects Victoria, the consortium will upgrade the existing Sunshine station to create a new transport hub connecting airport trains with local and regional rail service. This will include a flyover between Sunshine and Albion Junction, an accessible second pedestrian concourse and new forecourt area at Sunshine Station, and a new forecourt area at Albion Station.
Vast knowledge in BIM management and was a driving force at Worley Parsons to change their philosophy on deliverables. This philosophy change was to utilise the 3D structural model as our main deliverable instead of it just being a tool to produce our 2D deliverables. The 3D model became our prime deliverable with minimal 2D documents to support it. Worley were able to reduce our 2D output drawings by 75%. The model was delivered and integrated with all other disciplines and we reviewed and clash detected against other disciplines. This also reduces the construction costs as our RFI’s and Site Instructions were also reduced dramatically. All 3D and 2D deliverables utilising the following CAD tools: AutoCAD, MicroStation, PDMS, ProSteel/ProStructures/ProConcrete, PDS, Recap, WiseImage, Inventor, 12D, and NavisWorks.
