Mumbai, Maharashtra, India
Currently the Principal of a new School that opened in July 2017. We are an IB World School. It follows a strong service oriented philosophy combined with an attention to values education that puts people at the centre of its educational practice.
We have upgraded our previous association in the USA, to partner with Keiser University, the #1 private university in Florida. Over 100+ degree courses are on offer. Students currently study for 2 years here and then 2 in Florida. But, there are flexible options to complete this US degree online. Masters and Doctorates can be arranged also. This is an exciting development, and one day a 4 year degree programme will be available here.
Garodia has a unique partnership with a top 10 UC College: Broward. We offer a 2+2 programme where students study for 2 years in India and guaranteed 2 years in a Florida university. Degree is authenticated by US college authorities. My role as dean is to further this opportunity for Indian students and bring world class education to Mumbai. The advantages are: huge savings in costs, US degree here in Mumbai, top quality approved staff from US, guaranteed transfer to USA (or other countries).
I am privileged to be the founding Head of the new international section of this famous school in Mumbai. It has a strong reputation for academic achievement and service to the community. With an Early Years and Primary curriculum focused towards the IPC and a Secondary School offering the Cambridge IGCSE program followed by the internationally acclaimed IB Diploma program, the school is well situated to offer an exciting, challenging and relevant experience for students aspiring to be leaders in the modern world. The school enjoys brand new state of the art facilities and is staffed by leading educationalists drawn worldwide alongside some very talented Indian teachers. We aspire to make a difference in all that we do.
Apart from a short 2 year period (when the network was very ably led by Stephen Taylor - now in Japan) it has been my privilege to chair a very successful association that draws together staff from IB schools to work collegiately to further staff development, training opportunities, mentoring between subjects and provide a link to IBAP. We currently organize an annual Teachers Conference (c.700 teachers in attendance) with keynote speakers and workshops, 2 annual student TOK conferences, official IB workshops, subject based workshops and an advice forum for all members. All of this is self-generated and owes much to IB teacher enthusiasm and expertise within Indonesia.
I was privileged to be the founding Principal of a new Secondary School (Tzu Chi) that opened in July 2015 in all its aspects. An IB school in purpose built facilities, we successfully achieved IB Auhtorization for MYP and DP within 2 years. Tzu Chi is a worldwide foundation that originated in Taiwan. It has schools in 17 countries and follows a strong service oriented philosophy combined with an attention to humanist education that puts people at the centre of its educational practice.
My prime role was IBDP Coordinator/ Head of pre university grades for all academic and pastoral matters. I was proud to build the DP cohort from around 15 to 150 per grade whilst improving quality as seen in a rising average DP score over 35 points. I also headed the University Guidance Counselling section. My role on the Senior Leadership Team meant that I was privileged to be involved in all aspects of school leadership and led at various times Staff Development, CIS reviews, Bluesky, Staff Induction, building projects like the new library and was deeply involved in curriculum and staffing matters. I was most proud of my CAS Coordinator who developed service learning projects and experiences to an internationally recognised level.
