tldr; I aspire to leverage my technical skills to solve human problems. Throughout my life, I have been asking myself: What role do I want to play in society? What are the biggest problems in the world? How can I make a difference? My quest to better understand the world around me has led to doing climate activism, conducting AI safety research, organizing an unconference with a theme of personal growth. It's also taken me abroad to London (Data Science), Amsterdam (Data Analytics), Denmark (Cybersecurity), and Japan (Cybersecurity competition) where I learned to collaborate across cultures and contexts. I am currently seeking roles in Data Science, Product Management, Technical and Economic Consulting, Solutions Architecture, Cybersecurity, and Software Engineering in San Francisco where I can use my analytical background to make meaningful impact across stakeholders. I am a direct communicator who is proactive in identifying problems and working towards solutions. My curiosity about other perspectives, even if they are vastly different than mine, allows me to meet people where they're at and get to know their needs. Let's connect if you're working on technology that makes people's lives meaningfully better. https://portfolio.emilyf.com

Shipped enterprise security analyst features at TruU across authentication, access control, multi-client threat investigation workflows, and connecting to external data sources. Worked across the full backend stack in Python with Celery, Docker, and AWS S3. - Async CSV Export Pipeline: Built an async export pipeline for security logs using Python, Celery, Docker, and S3, enabling enterprise clients to run large-scale offline analysis without blocking the application. Wrote comprehensive tests. - Role-Based Access Control: Implemented RBAC to restrict write endpoints to assigned administrators while preserving read access for analysts across the platform. Wrote comprehensive tests to ensure correctness of access control. - Cross-Client Events Mapping: Designed an event mapping system unifying Gmail, Teams, and Outlook events to support threat investigation across multiple enterprise clients simultaneously. - JWT Middleware Refactor: Eliminated 100+ lines of duplicate authentication code by extracting JWT validation into reusable middleware decorators shared across all route modules. - External Data Connectors: Identified redundant data ingestion paths across two separate codebases, driving an architectural consolidation discussion with the team to build a unified connector system to collect data from third party services. Extended third-party data connectors by designing and implementing an S3 ingestion pipeline, contributing to API research, and testing for Saviynt and Microsoft Calendar. - Jargon Glossary Scraper: Built a web scraping pipeline to crawl all pages in the site sitemap and generate a comprehensive glossary of company-specific terminology
Conducted independent AI safety research as part as a selective research bootcamp, investigating unsupervised methods for reducing deceptive behavior in large language models using PyTorch. Analyzed 4,800+ steering vectors to categorize response types and found poor generalization across prompt contexts.
Backend development at a Copenhagen cybersecurity startup, leading a Cisco ISE API integration for automated network threat blocking, improving software version visibility, and contributing to major Spring Boot upgrade. - Cisco ISE API Integration: Researched Cisco ISE product and API capabilities to design an integration with Muninn AI Prevent for automated network threat blocking - Ubuntu Version Visibility: Parsed Linux command outputs in Java Spring Boot to surface device Ubuntu versions across the network, shipped to production with edge case handling for startup and shutdown states. - Spring Boot 1→2 Migration: Fixed 50+ broken test cases to support a major Spring Boot version upgrade across the codebase.
Data analyst at an Amsterdam career-tech startup, building internal dashboards and automated reporting tools adopted by the customer success and business teams. - Client Usage Dashboard: Engaged stakeholders including customer success team and managing director to define dashboard requirements, then developed internal Google Looker and PowerBI dashboards to track client usage - Config-Driven Report Generator: Refactored a client report generator into a config-driven system using Python and PostgreSQL, enabling parameterized delivery per client; praised by the customer success team for rapid turnaround. - Web Scraping Tool: Built webscraping tool to collect hundreds of career development programs for business team, eliminating hours of manual data collection - Documentation and Handoff: Provided detailed documentation of my work to smoothly handoff my work to other employees - Culture: Organized a meditation event, interns lunch, and 1-1s to get to know coworkers.
