Providing Support to Business' who are in partnership with the LFB for their fire safety across their national portfolios. - Ensuring consistency across local authority boundaries when enforcement action is served - Liaise with relevant parties from business', associated enforcing authorities and their auditing teams. This is mostly reactive when notices are served however regularly carry out joint site visits with relevant parties as a preventative measure, to ensure policy led procedures are effectively being carried out in their in the relevant premises. - Review and advise on fire safety policies and strategies - Assessing and reporting on these to partners against national guidance. Also provide support for business regards FRS enforcement expectations; including assistance on procedural guidance for premises, eg: advice on audit activities - Advise on the new and relevant fire safety guidance/legislation - to assist with improving their safety standards and meeting regulatory compliance
Providing support to new and existing officers in their fire safety development - supplementing the London Fire brigades external FPA fire safety training programmes. This included major projects such as: - Creating a new 6 week induction course timetable for the Fire safety department inductees-This included incorporating: ~ the FPA training courses; additional information sessions to support learning; career progression sessions; brigade and department familiarisation; mentoring and addition learning support; role specific operational support - Creating a new department wide Fire safety Development folders, both for candidates and assessors. This required ~ Cross mapping NOS (National Occupational Standards) against the LO (Learning outcomes) of FPA course ~ developing and providing sessions to meet the missing LO elements required to be a Fire Safety Inspector, including creating lesson plans for each session ~ Creating learning matrices and documenting the numerous operational activities to meet the Practical requirements for development & Assisting with the updating of the LFB electronic PDR (personal development records) system to incorporate the development folders assessment process and supporting the Assessors and Verifiers in carrying out their roles, by communicating with the relevant LFB teams.
