Following the acquisition by Schlumberger (now SLB) I was assisting with the integration of Zilift into the SLB business units
I was the Zilift CEO from start-up through to sale of the business to Schlumberger (now SLB). During this period, together with a team of ~25, we developed ground breaking wireline deployed Electrical Submersible Pumps which the industry had been unsuccessfully trying to develop for decades. - Led the discussions with investors for the funding rounds required to progress the technology development until ready to interest potential acquirers. - Assembled a team of 25 to develop and demonstrate leading edge technology which reduced operational costs by up to 90% and reduced emissions by up to 70%. Generated significant IP much of which is protected through granted patents. - Secured project funding from multiple oil & gas companies and secured grant funding through Scottish, UK and European sources. - Managed the company through the 2 most challenging industry downturns of the last generation (2015 and 2020). - Led the company sale process through to the acquisition by Schlumberger in April 2021.
Initially as QuantX (a joint venture between Baker Hughes and The Expro Group) and latterly as Baker Hughes ProductionQuest (following buy out by Baker Hughes) I managed the engineering teams and projects in Aberdeen, Oxford, Houston and Lafayette related to permanent real time downhole sensor systems.
